Your business may qualify
for a free battery system

What is it?
SGIP is a energy rebate funded by the California Public Utility Commission which provides battery systems for qualifying businesses.
Who qualifies?
There are two types of rebates available – one for businesses located in low-income and DAC (disadvantaged community) areas and one for those providing a critical service in high fire thread districts (HFTDs).
Funds are first-come, first-serve. Schedule a call to confirm your eligibility.

-
It's good for business
If you're approved by California for a free system, you'll lock in energy savings, prevent outages, and be able to deliver for your customers and clients.
-
It's good for the grid
Battery storage helps the state manage soaring energy demand. During peaks, your system can stabilize the grid – one reason the state is funding it.
-
It's good for the planet
Cities often rely on polluting "peaker" plants to generate electricity during peak demand. Tapping into battery power offers a cleaner alternative.

CEA debuts programs to install batteries at no cost
By SB Staff
Clean Energy Alliance, a CCA in California, is rolling out two new programs to help income-qualified homeowners access solar & battery storage — without the steep upfront costs that usually come with it.
What is SGIP and what does it cover?
The SGIP program has been around for years and has offered a variety of rebates to different groups.
The rebate that we're talking about here is the SGIP Non Residential Equity (SGIP Equity) and SGIP Non Residential Equity Resiliency (SGIP ER).
The SGIP Equity and SGIP ER budgets offer qualifying business owners a no-cost battery system.
To qualify, you must own your business, be located in a qualifying location, and serve a critical service.
What makes this an amazing opportunity for business owners is that Haven fully covers the upfront costs of your system and gets reimbursed directly by the state, not you.
Funds are first-come, first-serve, and going fast.
Why is California funding this rebate?
The biggest reason is that California is facing an energy crisis. People need more and more electricity to cool their homes and businesses, run appliances, and power their cars. Demand is outpacing supply, and the costs of making necessary infrastructure upgrades (and funding new generation) are staggering.
To meet demand and secure safe, reliable power for Californians, it's cheaper and faster for the state to invest in new commercial battery systems.
Batteries keep costs down, use renewable energy, and respond quickly to spikes in demand at the local level. Together they act as a virtual power plant (or VPP), storing and distributing energy as needed.
In fact, if you're business is approved for a system through SGIP, the only requirement is for your battery to help the grid when it's stressed, which is also known as participating in demand response.
The rest of the time, your battery stores energy from the grid (or from solar panels) during the day to use later, when rates are most expensive.
The benefits of battery backup
A battery system delivers 2 key benefits: bill savings and backup power.
- Battery backup lets you store electricity when it's cheaper (typically midday) to use later when time-of-use rates are most expensive (typically 4-9pm). With rates increasing about 10% every year, those are guaranteed savings for your business.
- During power outages, blackouts and public scheduled power shut-offs (PSPS), your battery will automatically start powering your home until power is restored in your area. Sometimes business owners don't even realize there's been an outage.
I think I qualify. How do I apply?
Schedule a call with us! We'll review your information and confirm your eligibility.
Once we confirm you qualify for the SGIP Rebate, we'll start creating your battery proposal. This will include your estimated monthly bill savings and how much backup time your battery will provide during a power outage.
If everything looks good, you'll approve the proposal and sign your contract. The contract will explicitly state that this is a zero-cost system and you will not owe Haven (or California) anything. No monthly payments. No money down.
We'll then request funding for your system through the state SGIP rebate and install your system at no cost to you.
What is Haven's role in all of this?
Great question. Haven is your partner for getting a solar + battery system through California's SGIP solar and storage equity fund. We are an approved SGIP installer and developer, and are top-rated provider of solar and battery installation services in California.
How it works:
- Schedule a meeting so we can verify your eligibility to move forward. If you are approved, we submit your application to California to reserve your SGIP funds.
- We have a consultation on the phone so we can understand and assess your electric setup and energy usage.
- We send you a proposal to review and approve. This includes estimates for how much you'll save on your utility bill and how much backup power (in terms of days) your system will provide in an outage.
- We install your system and make sure it meets your energy goals. This includes the steps leading up to your install and everything after: site surveys, permitting, inspection, and interconnection!
- We provide ongoing support to help you optimize your system and understand its performance.
